After I graduated from law school in 1972, I worked in two small firms in Denver for five years, and then began my career at the U.S. Department of Justice in 1978. During my tenure as an appellate lawyer there, I won 136 appellate cases in the United States Courts of Appeals and was unsuccessful in only 13 cases. I also briefed 14 cases in the Supreme Court as a lawyer for the Department of Justice, and one as a lawyer in private practice. My wealth of experience and proven ability, as demonstrated by my level of success in novel and difficult cases, demonstrate that I can be of vital assistance to criminal defense lawyers at trial, and to defendants on appeal and at the Supreme Court level.
